The plastic surgeon “pins” the cartilage backwards to the desired position and then permanently stitches it in its new position with non-absorbable stitches. At the end of the operation the doctor stitches the incision and wraps it with a special elastic bandage that the patient has to wear for only 6 hours, while the pain is totally imperceptible. As the stitches are non-absorbable, the doctor removes them after two weeks.
The swelling and bruising completely go away during the following 10-15 days. Adults may return to their daily routine within five days, while children may go back to school 10 days, avoiding sports activities.
