What is the Champagne Groove – Greek Line technique?
It is a new technique in abdominoplasty applied by the renowned plastic surgeon Evangelos Keramidas. Champagne Groove is the name of the vertical line formed between the vertical muscles of the abdomen.
The purpose of this technique is not simply to achieve a flat abdomen but also provide the anatomical features that offer to the abdomen its youthful appearance, such as a distinct middle line and lateral line (Champagne Groove/Greek Line) as well as the curvature of the waist to offer inconceivable elegance.
Modern plastic surgery is a kind of body sculpture that constantly evolves. In plastic surgery, the first operations that aimed at improving the appearance of the abdomen were relatively simple. An operation involved a large incision, tissue preparation, cut excess skin, tubing and stapling. The result of the abdomen was similar to that of the abdomen of the Cycladic sculptures and figurines.
Since then, we have been looking for sophisticated techniques that would offer the sculpted appearance of the abdomen, a similar result to that of the ancient statues of classical and Hellenistic Greece. So, five years ago we applied for the first time, a pioneering technique to abdominoplasty. We called it the “Champagne Groove – Greek Line technique”.
What is the Greek Line – Champagne Groove technique? How is it performed?
This technique is a combination of the following plastic surgery techniques:
1) Assisted liposuction using radio frequency or ultrasound and laser
2) Insertion of internal sutures under tension between the abdominal walls and the dermis
3) Specific direction of skin in removing the skin flaps
