Non touch – No pain – No drain
This technique was presented by plastic surgeon Dr. Keramidas Evangelos at the 22nd World Congress of Cosmetic Surgery held in Rio de Janeiro in September 2014 and received excellent comments from the fellow colleagues.

The goal of No touch-No pain-No drain in abdominoplasty:
- The anatomical contour of the abdomen
The purpose of this technique is not just the achievement of a flat abdomen but offering to the new abdomen all the anatomical features that could provide a youthful appearance, such as the middle and the side line, and the curvature of the waist, which should be distinct offering harmony and elegance.
- Discreet placement of the incisions
The incision in abdominoplasty should be placed low, in the pubic area, so that it can be comfortably hidden beneath the smallest underwear.
- Slim waist
A thin waist is one of the secrets of a great abdominoplasty. This is achieved by combining three techniques.
Initially, with the liposuction in the “love handles” in almost all patients, advancement of the abdominal skin out and downwards, and also advancement and suturing of the fascia of the lateral oblique muscle of the abdomen inwards.
In this way, the waist becomes thinner, the body looks more elongated, and the female body obtains an incredible grace. There are patients who, with this technique, lost over 25cm from their waist.
- Correction of the pubic area
Great attention should be also paid to the cautious rectification of the pubic area, which in many women has fallen, having lost its youthful vitality. Beyond the recovery, a special technique in liposculpture may be needed.
- Correct loose skin over the navel
Great care is needed while correcting the loose skin, below and above the navel, applying special design of the skin flaps and liposuction on the ribs are required so as the upper skin to be lowered evenly.
- Correcting the diastasis of the rectus abdominis muscles
70% of women who undergo abdominal surgery, also suffer from diastasis of the rectus abdominis muscles, which should also be corrected. During pregnancy, the uterus pushes the rectus abdominis muscles, the pair of muscles located in the center of the abdomen and is in a vertical direction. - Umbilical Hernia repair surgery
The navel can be seriously distorted. In this case, careful correction with umbilical hernia repair surgery is required.
- Avoiding liquids accumulation
In recent years, we have abolished the use of drains (tubes). To limit the amount of liquid accumulation that accounts for 10% of the complications, we perform two techniques. Initially, we do not destroy the lymphatic vessels (the small capillaries of the subcutaneous tissue that help to drain the fluid) and then we place special sutures that stable the abdomen on the abdominal wall and drastically reduce the empty space where the liquids accumulation might develop.
- Avoiding pain
We neither cut nor injure the nerves that are responsible for the innervation of the abdomen.

“Make a cut, pull the skin, cut as much as you can and stitch again.”
It was obvious that this could not be abdominoplasty.

Studying ancient Greek statues and many photographs of modern beautiful female and male bodies, I could not help seeing that a flat belly was not enough in achieving a harmonious figure.

If we wanted the invasive effects of abdominoplasty to escape from the established results and reach classical art, we should be able to achieve the results of the ancient sculptors.

Past, Present & Future:
Abdominoplasty achieves:
- Flat belly
- Visible middle line (White line)
- Visible line of the side abdominal walls
- Slim waist
- Normal shape and correct position of the navel
- Incision covered by the underwear
- Tight skin above and below the navel
Past: “Abdominoplasty hurts a lot, you will have tubes for many days and you may need a transfusion.”
We could not accept this neither. The recovery of our patients is of paramount importance to us.
Now: We had to find a technique that wouldn’t cause pain. The “Non touch-No pain-No drain” technique was born.
Non touch: Because we do not touch. The procedure is accomplished with the use of special tools and a special invasive technique.
No pain: Because we do not cut the nerves.
No drain: Because there are no drains (pipes).
This is exactly what we have been doing in Kosmesis for years. This is why our patients are fully satisfied with the outcome of the procedure and their recovery.
